On 24 October 2023, just over halfway through the project, the ATLAS-L4 partners presented the interim results achieved so far at the MAN Truck Forum in Munich. Approximately 150 guests at the event were able to get an overall picture of the topic in an exhibition with demo vehicles, simulators, other exhibits as well as poster and screen presentations. In-depth information and the opportunity to exchange ideas were also provided by the numerous interesting technical presentations and the subsequent expert discussions.
At the end of March 2024, the Federal Motor Transport Authority (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt) issued the test licence for target level 4 according to AFGBV for an ATLAS-L4 test vehicle! The first test drives on the A9 motorway could then be started to test the functionalities of the automation system in a real environment. This makes MAN the first commercial vehicle manufacturer in Germany to receive a test licence with target level 4.
On 17 and 18 June, project participants from all ATLAS L4 partners met at the ADAC Mobility Test Centre in Penzing. On the first day, the focus was on the presentation of the current project status and the progress of the project in the nine work packages. The planning of the final event and the presentation of the test centre were the main topics of the second day. In addition, a joint dinner provided an opportunity for personal dialogue between the project team members.
